Monday Moments with God: Modern Modesty

Kate Middleton, Modern, Fashion, Royal Fashion

A young Kate Middleton always looks modern and appropriate for any occasion. Kudos Kate!

I spoke recently to a MOPS group. That’s mothers of preschoolers. We talked about the Spring 2013 fashion trends and how to wear these trends appropriately. Appropriately…read modestly yet modern!

Most of you know, I own an modeling agency and scout and place models all over the world. I walk a fine line while surviving in a sex-soaked business and staying appropriate. When I hear agents tell me to sex it up a bit I remember the words of the mega-model Coco Rocha. She told our models during New York Model Camp to know what you will and will not do. She has chosen, for herself, not to take pictures in lingerie. It sure hasn’t hurt her career! {you still might think her choices are immodest at times!} But I’m thinking that if it’s just a sexier photo standing between a contact or not, it’s not the photo at all! But I digress…

I think you can wear modern trends without showing it all. But you  may have to forgo the SHEER phenomenon we saw everywhere during the Spring shows. {Come clean moment: I wore a perfectly sheer blouse with beautiful bra showing through back in the ’80s…B.C. of course. I think I did more than tantalize a few men in the audience as I judged a modeling competition. It was captured on video and my girls are mortified that their mother would don such an atrocious style. The decisions in our youth. Sigh.}

I read a fantastic article by Kathi Lipp that I encourage you to read here.

Some of you will say, who cares? God does. Your kids might. And you should!

…clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

  1. I agree completely. Its nice to see/know that some people (especially a model agent) still value modesty. What a wonderful post.
